Body slam

A cooperative lift and landing, with more responsibility than its familiar name suggests.

Also called: bodyslam · scoop slam

The reference

Sharpe’s body-slam demonstration emphasizes control through the lift and return to the mat. It is a short reference, not a complete training progression.

Prerequisites to discuss

Both partners need coach-approved lifting and receiving foundations, suitable pairing, and an agreed way to abort before starting.

What to observe

Notice how the receiver participates and how the exchange resolves. Which parts are hidden by the camera angle?

Pitfalls & coaching questions

Do not treat strength alone as readiness. Unclear timing, fatigue, and an unfamiliar partner are reasons to return to your coach rather than improvise.

These prompts are editorial. Watch the original demonstration with a qualified coach, ask what the camera leaves out, and use the coach’s progression for physical practice. Our difficulty labels organize the library; they are not a school qualification.
